User Terms

These User Terms are the agreement between you and Trueye Team for the Trueye photo discovery and sharing service. They work together with our Privacy Policy, so please read both before you create an account.

Effective dateOctober 11, 2026

Agreement and operator

Trueye is a photo discovery and sharing service available at trueye.app and through our applications. The service is operated by Trueye Team, referred to in these terms as Trueye, we, or us. By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using Trueye, you agree to these User Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service.

Eligibility

To use Trueye you must be able to enter into a binding agreement, you must not be barred from using the service by the law that applies to you, and you must meet the age rule below. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Trueye only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian.

  • You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age at which the law where you live allows you to consent to online services.
  • An account created for a child by a parent or guardian remains the responsibility of that adult.

Your account and security

You are responsible for the account you hold and for the activity that happens through it. Please look after it as follows.

  • Give accurate registration details, keep them up to date, and keep your password and sign-in methods confidential.
  • Tell us promptly at support@trueye.app if you believe someone has used your account without your permission.
  • Do not share or sell your account, and do not create accounts to evade quotas, bans, or moderation decisions.

Your content and the licence you grant

You keep ownership of the photos, titles, descriptions, comments, and other material you submit. So that we can run, deliver, and promote Trueye, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, process, resize and transcode (for example into WebP or JPEG variants), display, and distribute that material, and to make it available to other people as you have configured. The licence ends when you delete the material, apart from copies other people already hold in their own caches or downloads, and apart from what we must keep for a legal reason.

  • You confirm that you own the material or hold every right, consent, and permission needed to publish it, including permission from the people who appear in your photos.
  • Do not upload material you have no right to share.

Real places and location information

Trueye exists for photographs of real places, so do not fabricate, alter, or spoof capture information such as GPS coordinates or capture time. A published photo may show where it was taken, so take care with private homes, workplaces, schools, and other sensitive places, and do not publish another person's precise location without their permission.

Acceptable use

Do not use Trueye to break the law or to harm other people. In particular, do not:

  • upload unlawful, infringing, deceptive, hateful, harassing, threatening, sexually exploitative, or privacy-invading content;
  • publish another person's personal information, or impersonate any person or organisation;
  • scrape or bulk-download the service, automate access, or probe, interfere with, or bypass our systems, upload quotas, moderation, or security controls;
  • send spam or unsolicited promotion.

Moderation and enforcement

We review photos and comments to keep Trueye consistent with these terms. We may hide, restrict, or remove content, suspend or close accounts, and revoke administrative access at our discretion, with or without notice, and we record moderation and enforcement actions in an audit log. If you believe a decision was wrong, write to support@trueye.app and we will review it.

Our intellectual property

The service itself, including the Trueye name and logo, the interface, and our software, belongs to Trueye Team and its licensors, and may not be copied, modified, or redistributed except as we agree in writing. Map imagery and map data come from third parties such as OpenStreetMap contributors and remain subject to their own licences and attribution requirements.

Third-party services

You may sign in with a Google, Facebook, or Apple account, and parts of Trueye rely on third-party providers for hosting, image delivery, email delivery, map tiles, and place lookup. Your use of those providers is governed by their own terms and privacy practices, and these terms do not cover them.

Elevation and weather data

The place name beside a photo is found by looking its coordinates up in OpenStreetMap data. Elevation is read from the Open-Meteo elevation API, which samples the Copernicus DEM GLO-90 ground model at about 90 metres of horizontal resolution. Weather is matched by Open-Meteo to the coordinates and to the time the photo records. All three describe the coordinate and the hour rather than the camera: elevation is the estimated height of the ground at that point, not the height of the camera or of any aircraft, and weather is a model value, not an on-site measurement. They are context only, may be absent, stale, or wrong, and do not alter your photo or the rights you hold in it. OpenStreetMap, Open-Meteo, and Copernicus are named here as the credit their licences require.

Disclaimers

Trueye is a community platform: the content is created by users, and we neither endorse it nor guarantee that it is accurate, lawful, or safe. Place names, addresses, and coordinates are derived automatically and may be incomplete or wrong. To the extent the law allows, the service is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, including availability, accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or freedom from errors.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Trueye Team is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or lost goodwill arising from your use of Trueye. Our total liability for all claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim and USD 50. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

Indemnity

To the extent the law allows, you agree to indemnify Trueye Team against claims, losses, and reasonable costs, including legal fees, that arise from your content, your use of Trueye, or your breach of these terms. This includes claims brought by people who appear in a photo you published. It does not apply where the claim results from our own wrongdoing, and it does not limit any right you have as a consumer.

Suspension and termination

You may stop using Trueye at any time, and you may ask us to close your account by writing to support@trueye.app; we then act on the request as described in our Privacy Policy.

  • We may suspend or end your access, with or without notice, if you breach these terms, if the law requires it, or if we discontinue the service.
  • When an account is closed, the photos and comments published through it leave the public service.
  • Clauses that by their nature should survive termination, including intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, indemnity, governing law, and general provisions, continue to apply.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes in the service or in the law, and the effective date above always tells you which version applies. For material changes we give notice in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Trueye after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Trueye Team is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and nothing in them removes the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence. Before starting formal proceedings, please write to support@trueye.app so that we can try to settle the matter directly.

General provisions

These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about Trueye. The following provisions apply to that agreement.

  • If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest of the agreement stays in force.
  • Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
  • You may not assign your rights under these terms without our written consent; we may assign them as part of a merger, acquisition, or transfer of the service.
  • We send notices to the email address held on your account, and we may amend the agreement only as described above.
  • Nothing in this agreement creates an agency, partnership, or employment relationship between you and us.

Language versions

We publish translations of these terms for convenience. If a translated version conflicts with the English version, the English version prevails, except where the law of your country provides otherwise.
